The Spanish biotechnology ecosystem is already looking ahead to BIOSPAIN 2026, which will take place from September 29 to October 1, 2026, at the Bilbao Exhibition Centre. Organized by ASEBIO, BIOSPAIN has become one of the most important biotechnology events in Europe, bringing together researchers, companies, investors, and public institutions around innovation in healthcare, sustainable agri-food, and climate change solutions.

This new edition was announced following the success of BIOSPAIN 2025, held in Barcelona, which gathered over 2,400 professionals from 1,065 organizations across 34 countries. Over three dynamic days, participants explored some of the most relevant topics shaping the sector — from the evolving role of biotechnology in the pharmaceutical industry and the implementation of AI in healthcare, to advances in alternative proteins, CO₂ bioconversion, and synthetic biology.

The BIOSPAIN 2025 program featured more than sixty sessions and panels dedicated to innovation, investment, and sustainability, as well as 140 investors representing 76 national and international funds, who took part in nearly 4,500 one-to-one meetings.
The event once again highlighted the strength of Spain’s biotech ecosystem and its growing ability to connect science, industry, and society.

Several members of the SDDN Governing Board attended this major event, helping to showcase the crucial role of drug discovery within Spain’s broader biotechnological landscape and to foster collaboration with research groups, pharmaceutical companies, and investors.

The Spanish Drug Discovery Network (SDDN) celebrates the announcement of BIOSPAIN 2026 as a new opportunity to strengthen partnerships, promote knowledge transfer, and drive innovation in the discovery of new therapies.
