Alfonso Rodríguez-Patón is Catedrático (Full Professor) in Departamento de Inteligencia Artificial (Artificial Intelligence Department) of the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (UPM). He got a Bachelor in Physics (1992), Master in Knowledge Engineering (1994), and a Ph.D. on DNA Computing (1999).Research in: Artificial Intelligence applied to biomedicine and microbiology. DNA Computing, Synthetic Biology, Systems Biology, Programmable Biology.

His main contributions have been published recently in Nature Biotechnology (a programmable living antibiotic) and in Science journal (an AI model to decrypt how bacterial cell signals hijack biological processes of the host). He is participating in EU research projects like BiocellPhe and a Wellcome Trust project with Imperial College (G. Frankel group).
